Dining With A Beat

Bob Marley (shown here) is honored with a restaurant at Universal Orlando.  Jimmy Buffett has his Margaritaville Cafes and, of course, there are the world famous Hard Rock Cafes.  Fats Domino, Trini Lopez, Gloria Estefan and Pat Boone have (or had) excursions into the restaurant biz.  Music is the ambience and the food and libation... well, mostly touristy.

Some musicians and singers have built enduring dining successes:  Sammy Haggar (of Van Halen fame) owns the Cabo Wabo in Cabo San Lucas.  Jim Croce's family legacy, besides his great songs, is the Croce Restaurant and Jazz Bar in San Diego.

In this decade, others have gotten into the food and music game.  Did you know that P Diddy, Moby, Jay-Z, Justin Timberlake, Hootie and the Blowfish, even Britney Spears (if anyone really cares) have their own restaurants.

So have you eaten at any of these places?  Is the food up to par with their music (or vice-versa?) Do you know of others?

Dashing through a song.......

Is there a particular holiday song that rings in your head every year? Does "White Christmas" bring a tear to your eye or does "Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer" irritate you?

Your First Song? First Album?

The first single I ever purchased was Del Shannon's "Keep Searchin", in the mid-60's.  The first album I ever bought was "Shutdown", a bargain bin special of songs with car themes from all obscure artists, except for two by the Beach Boys.

Can you dig into your musical memory and recall the first song and/or album you ever purchased?
